Brief: Design, photographic art direction and print spec for Leeds College of Art Prospectus 2010–11
Client: Leeds College of Art
Details: This year Leeds College of Art decided to put their money where their mouth was and instead of the usual large agencies they got recent graduates to pitch for the design their prospectus. Working collaboratively with Kyle Bibby, we lay down an in-depth pitch outlining the areas of the current prospectus we though worked well and pinpointing the areas we thought weren’t working hard enough. Keeping the same basic structure as the previous year we strengthened the link between the course descriptions and the photographs of relating work. Introduced a swiss column to aid access to vital information, and created a new ’student stories’ section, giving a relevant narrative of the student working process. Visually we introduced a tab device, aligning with the swiss column that was also carried to the cover in the form of a fold-over vinyl sticker. The cover was finished with a rough embossed greyboard giving a tactile juxtaposition to the smooth vinyl.
